"Her whisper is the Lucifer"

Lucifer- Shinee

From Left: Taemin, Jonghyun, Minho, Key, Onew

Shinee is a contemporary R&B Korean Boy Band under the SM Entertainment. When they debuted, I really didn’t like them. 누난 너무 예뻐was okay. Love like Oxygen and Amigo…. I only heard that song once. I was very biased towards BigBang that time. But this song…. Wow! For once they went for a change! Being sexy instead of the young cute boy concept. This song isn’t 24/7 addictive song but I like it. The background music isn’t covering their voices, they aren’t using auto-tune for all of their voices, and the dance is catchy. They are a really talented group of singers.

"I’ll be back"

I’ll be back - 2PM

From Left: Chansung, Junhoo, Wooyung, Junu, Nikhun, Taecyeon

Happy and quite disappointed! I am happy that they made a comeback! But disappointed! I was expecting something strong but it was same concept. It’s like Wonder Girls doing the whole retro concept. People get tired of it! This song is from their new digital single “Still 2:00PM” Speaking of which, I’ll be a bit emotional here. The “still 2:00pm” album name bugged me because 2:00pm is never 2:00pm without Jay Park. I am sorry my fellow 2pm lovers. 2:00pm is so different without Jay Park. They tried to cover up the presence of Jay but still I miss him in 2:00pm. Also the dance. Melbourne Shuffle? The teaser had something different! (Maybe it was a teaser for a different song?) I was expecting more Heartbeat like dance routine all throughout the song but a shuffle is alright with me I guess. Loving the whole monochromatic colors and make up. They look good with make up. I am surprised with Nikhun’s rapping! He is actually pretty good and it sounds nice. The song is okay. I give it a C+. The piano and voice is a plus. But I was expecting more 2PM! The dance and overall impression! But glad that they are keeping up the broken hearted bad boy look. I’ll give you one more chance :)

Another song of 2nd Moon which was an OST of “The Palace/Princess Hours”

A Dancing Teddy

宮 (Palace) - 두번째 달

2nd Moon is a Korean ethnic fusion band which had many of their songs used in dramas and ads. Especially this song known as palace. It was an OST for Korean Drama “Princess Hours” a POPULAR drama in Asia. The sound that the instrument make is beautiful and every time I hear it, it calms me down. No auto tune, no funky beat. Since it’s a fusion band, you can hear non Korean instruments like the violin as well. A short piece but it’s enough to attract me.

"Lie, Don’t Lie…."

돌이킬 수 없는 (Irreversible) - 가인 from B.E.G.

Dear artists that use auto tune: Use this song as an example for your next comeback. Ga in’s new song is really different from the Kpop trend. Completely different from Brown Eyed Girls’ Abracadabra. The tango style music is completely different from the current wave. Like Miss A’s reggae themed music, this song will be a definitely succeed. Kpop listeners are getting sick of auto tune and hook songs. If you see her live performance, she dances and sings for a whole 3 to 4 minutes without auto tune. She can sing. No wonder Jo Kwon is married to her :)

"또 왜 또 내 손 잡나요 뿌리치기도 힘든데…."

시간이 지나면 - 백지영

Once your done listening to this song, You may do one of these things: Cry, be sad, or think ‘what a great singer’ but did you know Baek Ji Young started as a dance artist? Her dance songs featured Latin beats which was uncommon that time.  I just love Baek Ji Young. Her voice is so unique. It could be the lyrics but the main reason why her ballad songs are sad is because of her voice. I really wish she would just stick to ballad. Her other famous songs include 총 맞은 것처럼 (Like Being Shot) and 잊지 말아요 (Don’t Forget)

"난몰라 난몰라 천번만번 말해줘도 몰라 몰라"

마법소녀(魔法少女) -  오렌지캬라멜 (Orange Caramel)

From Left: Lizzy, Nana, Raina

This is a subgroup of After School. Of course there is nothing sexy about this group! THEY ARE C.U.T.E. Love it! Orange Caramel is made up of the three youngest members of After School. The whole candy culture song is very different from the Kpop trend. A song that has cute lyrics and simple dance moves, it became one of my favorites. They perform well on live and I know many people that will start humming to this song or just sing when they are at the noraebang(karaoke)

"다 Copy and Paste"

Copy & Paste - BoA

Let’s just say I am satisfied with this song. :)

"너 때문에 자꾸 내 마음이"

Breathe - Miss A

From Left: Jia, Fei, Suzy, Min

Miss A. They changed to good girls from bad girls! This new song is a HUGE change from their first song Bad Girl Good Girl which was more sexy. JYP never upsets me! (well except the Jaebum incident buut) Who would have thought of this music? While the trend was electronic, full of auto-tune…. BAM comes out Miss A with their Reggae - ish song. The dance looks awesome too. I just love how Min says “Boy you look so fine.” I know some people are shocked when they heard this music because it was so different from Bad Girl Good Girl…. but hey, they can’t live off with that concept. That’s what I think:) And no…. I don’t see Wonder Girls when I see them. Miss A is just Miss A.

"Electronic Manic Supersonic Bionic Energy"

Hurricane Venus - BoA

Okay I am happy that BoA made a comeback after 5 years. Am I the only one that is disappointed with her comeback? Yes, I loved the whole Hurricane Venus concept. The song was addictive. I first went “meeh” but I found myself listening to it again. But her performance…. When she performed Girls On Top. Like when I saw her perform that song I was like WOOOOW but Hurricane Venus? I don’t know it was mehhh the whole v thing with finger….could have done more…. But even BoA had some auto - tune with this song…. which she really didn’t need to lol…. But I’m glad she made a comeback…. I almost forgot about her :)
